Essential Info
- Altitude-related symptoms, blisters or minor injuries are common. Pack essentials like antiseptics, bandages, Diamox (for altitude sickness), pain relievers, and personal medications.
- Trekkers are advised to always remain within sight of their experienced guide. Shalom Treks ensures each group is led by certified professionals who prioritize trekkers’ safety at every step.
- Carry purification tablets or a reliable water filter. Bottled water is available at most tea houses, but filtered or boiled water is safer and more sustainable.
- Never wear brand-new boots on the trail. Blisters can ruin the experience. Make sure your footwear is broken in and suitable for high-altitude trekking.
- Acclimatization is critical at high altitudes. Take rest days in places like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Your guide from Shalom Treks will manage your pace and schedule accordingly.
- Electricity is limited and often paid in higher-altitude lodges. Carry power banks or solar chargers to keep your phone, camera and essential electronics charged.
- Temperatures can vary drastically. Bring thermal base layers, a down jacket, waterproof gear and warm accessories like gloves and beanies. Always be prepared for sudden weather changes.
- Always have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation. Helicopter rescues are expensive and sometimes necessary.
